THE GREAT EXTERNAL
2026

a book made from recycled cellulose, individual cards with stabilized plants, live plants, a map

This project explores the people within environmental communities and the invisible connections through which knowledge, initiatives, and collective action are born.

The foundation of the project is an art zine made from recycled cellulose with the addition of medicinal plant seeds. After completing its life cycle, the book can fully decompose and become the basis for new growth — a small medicinal herb garden.

The project features 16 interviews with employees of the eco-center. Each of them answered questions about their path into the environmental movement, the meaning of community, and the values that unite people around a shared mission. Collected together, these questionnaires form a collective portrait of the community. The project captures individual stories and reveals the diversity of perspectives, experiences, and motivations within a single ecosystem of like-minded people.
