MASK
2026

Part of my ancestors come from Siberia, home to one of the most ancient practices — shamanism. The ritual shamanic mask is an instrument of contact with a broader visionary, ecological field. This practice encourages seeing things as whole systems and even viewing objects and patterns from the perspective of nature itself. The mask makes it possible to see that no one is isolated; everyone is connected by countless bonds to other people, our ancestors, as well as to the beings and plants with whom we share the planet.

When putting on the mask, the shaman experiences time differently. Becoming fully part of nature and submitting to its cycles, they begin to perceive the flow of time in longer, almost geological stretches, inaccessible to a person in everyday life.

Through the shaman, every being and natural phenomenon acquires its own way of being present. The boundary between "I" and nature dissolves completely. I see in this an example of restoring a vital soulful connection with the surrounding world and with what was most primal and instinctive in our feelings and imagination.
