Each of us has a scent that stops time, associated with a place or an event. Smell is the most powerful trigger, immersing us in the past. Behind the four fragrances of this project lie individual stories of residents of the Tagansky district.
Key moments associated with the scent of each place were extracted from every memory. Through the intersection of these memories, the base notes of the fragrances for four locations were identified: the Kotelnicheskaya Embankment High-Rise, Tagansky Park, Bunker 42, and the Taganka Theatre. Each fragrance contains hidden notes — the participants' personal memories. These four scents are the result of a study of the memory of Tagansky district residents and their recollections of the Taganka locations from the 1950s–1980s.
